Day 14: a non-fiction book
I started "Eat Pray Love" by Elizabeth Gilbert 2-3 years ago
when my grandma gave it to me. She said she thought I'd like it -
I think she saw the word 'pray' in the title and figured I'd like it.
I started it at the lake because I didn't bring anything else to read
and fishing wasn't keeping my attention on the boat.
If you haven't read it, it's about a successful, 40-something women
who leaves her marriage, house and job to "find herself" in
a year long trip to 3 different countries... blah blah blah.
Like I said, I started the book. I did not finish it.
I probably unfairly didn't finish it because it frustrated me.
One of her "searches" was for god - yes, god with a 'g' not 'G'.
I can confidently say that I didn't want to finish reading
this book where the author and therefore main character
sought out the spiritual nothingness of Buddha.
If you do not have Jesus, you don't have anything.
Buddha = nothing. I didn't feel like reading on when I knew
she was throwing away her eternal life. I felt sorry for her.
I definitely won't be watching Julia Roberts play her in the movie.
Ok, I'm off my soapbox now. That's my 2 cents.

I agree completely. Even "finding oneself" doesn't make sense. You find nothing when you go looking for yourself. You find everything when you find Jesus...including yourself, or rather, the person you are in Jesus.
I watched the movie and was just so frustrated with the movie. It was a cute movie BUT I have to agree with the searching for god....it was just disappointing and very sad!!
